Default Alpine 9857 with DCI hookup

I just have to say that I love the headunit with the DCI hooked up! I'm just not used to holding down mode and using the volume up and down to skip tracks! Other then that, everything works on the dash! The sound quality and functionality this headunit offers is awesome. I actually like the non-motorized faceplate on this headunit! Anway, I def recommend this HU to anyone!

I have the same setup and also love it. Did you see the new iDA-X001? I have had my 9857 for 6 months, and will replace it in February for the iDA!

What is the iDA-X001? I'm curious on what it is. FYI, my friend who sold me the HU said the Bluetooth does not work that well and also the HD radio is a waste of money. Just in case anyone was gonna get it for this model HU.

iDA-X001

Looks interesting - at least I'll have two choices between this and the 9857.

If you have a recent DCI and activate the "Tap-n-Press" option (switch 4) you will be able to skip tracks by a quick tap of the MODE button and skip to the next folder with a tap of the CH button. Pressing either button for more than 1/2 second will cause them to do their "normal" functions (Source and Band).

If you activate this feature the "hold MODE and press Vol Up/Dn" function will still work, but you'll be able to use the "tap" feature for the commands you use most - next track and next folder. And of course in radio mode you be able to do next preset and seek up the same way.

Hello Bob. I think we were emailing back and forth about the press and tap. I dont have a recent DCI module so thats why I do it the other way.

I have this setup and it's great.

The 9887 is coming out in the Summer BTW and then we have to wait for price to get out of 'markup' so it will be a while.
