Alpine 9853 Guidance settings
i bought an alpine 9853 from someone for $250 canadian..awhile ago.
Tuning for this deck seems very confusing...
i just wanted to know if anyone else has this installed in their S2k....if i could get some guidance settings for graphic/parametric equalisers...time correction..cross overs...and whatever else there is to tune....and any tips on how to tune also.
right now..i just have two 6.5 type-r speakers in the doors....
thank you in advance.

I have almost the same headunit, (9855) and am also just running fronts at the moment...at least until John (DarkKnight) finishes my sub enclosure from his GB, I have a set of older high end Alpine DDDrive 6.5 components with a good sized amp running them, but anywho...Since you have no sub, make sure it's turned off in the HU...and that the front speaker crossover slope is flat.
I set my time delay by ear rather than measuring, and I have my tweeters in the stock pod location, so my setting will probably be different...but my front left is at 1.5ms and that puts the sound stage dead center for me.
Parametric EQ...band one is at 63hz, Q=1, level = +4 : band two I lowered from the default of 150 to I think 140... Q=2, level= +2 : band 3 flat, and our tweeters are totally different so I don't think my treble settings would be relevent especially since I lowered the output at the passive crossovers by 3db to start with...but start with it flat and then raise or lower settings on the 4 and 5 bands to try and even out the brightness.
Those settings will increase the bass, at the sacrifice of being able to crank it to extreme volumes...although I can get mine plenty loud enough to drown out wind noise at highway speeds without distortion.
Oh yeah....Make sure mx is off.
Start there and see how it sounds...It usually takes me a couple of weeks of fiddling to get it where I like it (At least the EQ settings)

Time correction drastically helped with my sound system. I think this is a very vital aspect. Be sure to set yours. Just measure the distance between the speakers and you (or the center of the cabin) and set those numbers into the time correction section. However, I think on the head unit it wants it in ms instead of cm/mm. Alpine's website should help you figure what ms time correction relates to distance. Amazing...
