Default alpine 7977 + alpine F450 Amp 5 channel good?

Hi,

Is the setup gonna produce good sound (with decent bass) with my pionner 3 way speakers front, and alpine rear speakers? Without adding a sub?

The 7977 is an awesome preamp unit, unfortunately is does not have time correction to adjust for your rear speakers. Personally I prefer just fronts and a sub. Be careful without running a sub. I blew my first set of fronts this way. Top down highway speeds- couldn't hear the "warning" distortion!

PS. I am selling my year and a half old 7977, thread is a little down in this forum!

MikeS2K,

What do you mean by "time correction" for the rear speakers on the Alpine unit?

A few of the newer Alpine head units have built in time correction. This feature was taken from the Alpine F1 status awesome head unit.

It basically controls a delay you can set independently for each speaker LF (left front), RF, RR,LR and the sub. This can alleviate problems with sound staging, etc
With the newer units, you can also "burn" your settings onto a CD-R and upload them to the head unit.

The that 3-way set you have, did you lose your tweeters?

I love time correction!! Mike is right, the sound stage is much better with the TC.
