Advice on audio upgrade quote appreciated.
Just got a quote on a system and would like some input since I am clueless in this area.
MBQuart RCE 216 $299.99
8 AWG Amp Install Kit $49.99
NS-60 line level $16.99
Rockford Fosgate 350s $249.99
Install Amp to Fact Stereo $150.00
Install Speakers $115.00
Tot w/tax and supplies $915.96
I really just want to increase the volume for top down driving, nothing fancy and this was more than I planned on spending for what I thought would be a simple job. Appreciate any help, comments, suggestions.
Thanks.

First, little about this job is "simple." Every car audio place I went to said the S was a tough car to do. I tackled it myself, and I agree. It is a tough car to do.
Seems like a lot of effort and money to retain the factory head unit. If you just want to increase the sound for top down driving, consider just adding rear speakers and see what happens. It is the lowest cost improvement. You can either go to: http://www.lucidautomotive.com and get replacement panels with speakers in them, or you can contact Marks2002 (board member) about S=Pods. They are speaker mounts that go into the roll-hoops and allow you to mount a speaker behind your head. If you click the "audio system" link in my signature, you will find pix and LOTS of info on the S-pods.

Also looking for a little advice on an install quote
HIFI Buys wants $1020 to do an install of
DCI
component speakers incl. apillar flush mount tweeters
amp
head unit
$425 of this is for Dynamat in door panels - parts($250) and labor($175)
For that kinda money, I'm seriously considering teaming up with my honda tech friend and doing the install ourselves.
But, can anyone tell me is it truly worth the money to do this dynamat. The installer insisted an entire package was needed.
Thx.

First of all, the S2000 should not have $250 worth of dynamat in it, especially for just door speakers. That much dynamat xtreme covers 36 ft^2 and weighs 16 lbs, and the Regular Dynamat would be even worse. For 6 1/2" door speakers, you should be able to get away with very little dynamat. I used less than 1 square foot for both doors and I don't hear any unwanted vibration.

OK, I posted this before, and let my opinions be known, but you would be AMAZED at how much more sound you get by just adding rear speakers to the stock head unit. If this is what you are after READ THIS
Lots more sound, nice balance, more clarity, and acutal audible music at 90mph+ - Total $ invested $70 .
I'm in the wrong damn business, stereo shops love to talk you into things you don't REALLY need (IMHO)
$400 in Dynamat in the DOORS??? Good God, 1) we drive a CONVERTIBLE you would be far better off spending your hard earned money on setting up an exacting sound stage in your living room than your S2K, not to say that some I'm sure haven't vastly improved the stock sound but still.... 2) Dynamat is way to expensive for the pretty name on the stuff once it's under your carpet/panels, I know of a place on-line that sells the exact same product for roughly 1/6th of the price. They are taking you for a ride.
