9857 and iPod -- disabling repeat mode
I've noticed that whenever my iPod is connected to my 9857, the iPod gets set in repeat mode -- and I've inadvertantly run the iPod battery out because I didn't realize this was the case when taking the iPod out of the car.
Anyone know how to disable this feature, so I don't have to do it manually every time I disconnect? The Alpine manual isn't helpful.

Actually my Alpine/iPod "repeat" problem is not related to the manual repeat setting on the HU - it does it by itself. Any time I scroll though the album list and then pick an album to play, the HU automatically tells the iPod to repeat that album forever. As far as I know there is no way around it, other than to never scroll though the album list but instead hit "Next track" 863 times to get to the album you want.
I can't imagine why anyone would think this is a feature that listeners want, but then it's not the only Alpine or Ipod feature that makes no sense to me.

Negative. Push 5 on your headunit. 5 is repeat all/one and 6 is mix all/one. Make sure all the settings on the ipod at turned off (shuffle and repeat) Without shuffle or repeat on, your ipod should play, in order, from the first, to the last song.

Sorry to jack but i have a question for you NFR or anyone that can answer this..
On my ipod how to i get to track lets say 672 if i start at 1
Do i have to go thru all the tracks to get to that number?
I pressed and held the foward button in hopes it will scroll fast but no luck
any other way?
And going backwards is not an option.

I think its 4 for repeat, 5 for mix...
And my 5G iPod always defaults to repeat - I have no idea why but none of my previous ones did this. Regardless, upgrading from a 9847 to a 9885 has made playing an iPod through the HU a much more pleasant process. My 9847 would sometimes run the iPod until it died, and sometimes would not register the iPod in the morning when I started the car up. So far the 9885 has been perfect - ne dead iPods, no failure to initialize in the morning.
One work around for getting to specific songs on the older Alpines (that were so slow) is to disconnectthe iPod, choose the artist/song/etc you want, then plug the ipod in - the HU will play what's already playing.
