Well, I think your finish procedure will look better and be more durable than the leather. It's not like the dash is real leather anyway like a ferrari. You're finish will be closer to stock and I am leaning toward that.

Today was the first sunny and warm enough day since I got my install finished, so I decided to test how readable the screen is in direct sun with the top down. I had very big expectations since I paid basicly $500 more for this screen than the identical non-modified screen for a total of $700. I was not disapointed!
I couldn't believe how good the thing actualy is. Not one inch of glare at all and totaly readable in direct sun. Every color is bright and clear. Well worth the extra $$$ IMO. If anyone is planning on carputing in the S I would say it's not even an option. I am going to do a short video of this in action soon and will compare it to my laptop screen.

Can't wait to see Ver. 2.0
Thanks for updating me as I stumbled onto your thread in the past and just didn't remember!
We sell many types of sunlight read-able touch panel computers at my office. They are industrial grade versions but we do have high bright models with that coating which reduces glare a lot as you have found out.
This is a fully self contained computer version:
