Just got back from picking this stuff up. Funny...this was suppose to be a daily, and, as with my other cars, I was just suppose to keep this stock with maybe an upgrade of the sound system. I got problems. Looks like I'm gonna end up filing this one away too one day :-(
Hopefully this brings out the beautiful tone of the Mugen muffler:

What is the reason that you went AEM and not Flashpro?

There were 2 reasons actually: 1.) My good friend/mechanic suggested it, and 2.) I have another good friend that was a former AEM employee and got it for me for a pretty good price.

A couple things with past experiences with the same AEM on a AP1: It disables your immobilizer, it does not do OBD2 readings- so if you have any problems with the car your going to be troubleshooting with 0 DTC codes. It takes longer to crank- it has to turn over to register everything.
Hondata's Flashpro runs just like OEM. Just my .2.
Beautiful build, I can't wait to see what it looks like.

I tried my best to do research on this and for some reason, I kept overlooking the disabling immobilizer thing. As far as the troubleshooting of error codes, I wasn't so worried, but because this car splits daily driving duties, I'm now concerned with the immobilizer issue.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention, pastoli, I'm in the process of returning the AEM, and I'm going to go wih the Hondata Flashpro.

I would be careful with the OEM reliability piece. I think one thing to remember is, when you are tuning the car, you are removing the OEM reliability piece because you have taken the "default" settings from the factory (OEM), and put them in the hands of someone else. A good tuner is a key component to tuning. Just my $.02. I am a regular on another forum which has nightmare tuning stories by people who have taken the OEM reliability and put it in the hands of someone else.
This thread reminded me... I need to reply to your post

Very nice. It's too bad the heat shield covers the beautiful manifold.
Crazy the weight difference between the Mugen and the OEM parts!

The heat shield can be removed.
I took my mugen header and sent it over to JetHot to have it coated. It looks incredible, and yes, you can run it without the heat shield. I figured that Mugen designed it with a heat shield, so I'll keep the heat shield
Good luck with the build..

Thanks Mocky...
I took a look at the JetHot sight to see some of their work. Looks really nice. How much did it cost you all together (shipping both ways and coat)? Which did you choose and why?

Forgot to respond to this.. Here is the Mugen with it jethot coated.

This goes back a few years ago but when I got it done, it was $115 for the manifold. $25 for the heat shield. Shipping and handling was $34.
I forget the name of the color and which one I chose (the invoice didn't list it).
