Q: How can you tell if a car is a CR by VIN number?

J HM AP2 1 2 * 8 S 000001

J = Japanese built (Made in Japan)
HM = Honda Motor Company passenger vehicle
AP2 = Chassis code S2000/F22C1 (AP1 for 00-03)
1 = 2 door convertible/6 speed manual
2 = CR (4 = base S2000)
* = check digit (Varies by car)
8 = Model year (0-9)
S = Built at Suzuka factory (T = Tochigi; AP1s and early AP2s)
000001 = Serial Number

leo777 I think I can help you out, going by your VIN number you supplied you do indeed have a delete CR. The build number for your particular car is # 254 of 699 made.

I will add your car to the CR Roll Call once you reply back with where you are located, congratulations on the purchase!

Congrats on the purchase!

As Nicole stated, check the FAQ, it's a good resource that will probably answer the majority of your questions. https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/863...ficial-cr-faq/

No problem leo777, basically each CR produced is given a production number based off their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) assigned by Honda. I've attached the CR Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section which has a lot of great CR information. About half way through the section you will see a listing of CR production numbers proceeded by their VIN numbers and a description of the individual CR's. This is a complete listing of build numbers and their assigned VIN's and is how we can determine each cars build/production number.
This CR forum can help with any questions you may have on your car, it's maintenance, modification or upkeep. We would love to see pictures or stories on how you found your CR and what your plans are for the CR in Puerto Rico. I'll add your CR to the Roll Call shortly.

~Steven
