CR Rear Stiffening bar
#2
I'm not providing any hard evidence either way but I'm sure the Honda engineers did their research and development to make sure that chassis stiffening bar located where the soft top would be is in fact functional. To what degree it helps, I'm not sure. I can tell you that having driven AP1s and previously owning a base AP2, the CR does feel more planted in the bends then they did. That could also be attributed to the aero and suspension though.
I don't know if anyone has anything solid to show it's benefit... to me it's an enhancement to the car that adds to the overall package, in combination with other improved tweaks (aero, suspension, etc).
All that said, I don't know if it's worth getting rid of your soft top for (edit: it looks like your S may be setup for the track, in which case it may be a good idea for you to install it).

Can't comment on the worthiness of buying the part or if it actually makes any sort of measurable performance difference...but
From the Honda brochure:
"A unique rear body brace located behihind the roll-bar cowlings increases the vehicle’s rear suspension lateral rigidity by 18% and vertical rigidity by 94%."
