255's

It varies by tire... Star Specs in that size recommend a minimum rim width of 8" but people don't always follow the manufacturer's guidelines.
A lot of people modify a pair of OEM rear wheels so that they can use them up front if they want to run wider tires on the cheap.

Cool! So I should b fine with adding 255's on the front to help my times on the track. I'm running in rtr and sick of being beaten in pax by a mustang! . I have no prob beating him raw time, but pax in rtr is a diff story. I need to make up half a second on my current times. I'm thinkin 255's at all four corners and a gendron front sway should take care of it.

It will work. I put 255 Kumho XSs on all 4 stock wheels.
The pinch wasn't too bad and there was roughly 3/4" more contact patch than a 225 XS mounted on a stock front. I never tried it, but I took them to an event for a friend with an '07.
He did 4 runs on a 235/255 set and 4 on the 255x4 set. He was .8 faster on the 255x4 set.
A stiffer front bar will transform the car. You will be amazed at how much sooner you can get on the gas. Once you get used to that you will smoke that Mustang's pax
