If I were to get 205/55/16 tires in the front and 245/45/16 tires in the rear of my ap1 will it help out with the oversteering and edgy handling characteristics of the car? This on stock wheels.

Yes but its hard finding 245/45/16 tire. You're left with not so great tires. All the stickiest 16 inch tires at 225/50/16 and will vastly out grip the 245.

wider tire sure provides better grip/
but it also usually make gripp loose less progressive - and this is not good.
is your pressure good? (IMO should be 35 -38 on hot)
did you add camber at rear axle?
