suspension recommendations
I have an AP1 (MY 2000) with 35,000 miles, and do about 5 PDXs per year. Original and stock suspension. Questions:
1) Is there wisdom in replacement of Suspension? That is, does it break down over time? So, not talking upgrades, just based on wear and age.
2) If/when this replacement occurs, I was thinking of replacing with a slightly used CR suspension. I believe this is compatible. I may go from a staggered to a square setup eventually and would of course go to a larger front sway. Currently I run OEM AP1 wheels and tire sizes.
Thoughts or suggestions on this? I'm sure many are in the coilover camp, but I don't want to go that route, because of $$, and also I can't really lower the car and still get in my driveway, although I do sense that the CR suspension may lower the car slightly. Also, just find the stock setup to be effective and I figure I'd get some enhancement with the CR setup.
Thougths? Suggestions?

1) Sure the shocks wear out eventually, but depending on your usage, the original shocks will probably last a lot longer than 35,000 miles. They are built like tanks. Check back in at 80-100K.
2) CR shocks and springs are compatible, yes, and it is a performance upgrade. People say it actually rides very slightly higher than other stock setups. Plenty of people are happy with that upgrade.
Good luck!

I have koni yellows with CR springs, I'm very happy with it handling wise. Better than stock and better than most $1k coils.

Koni shocks are a great way to go. A spring like H&R or TEIN HTech would go well with it. A decent coilover might run you about the same so definitely check out all your options. You can use our website to get an idea of pricing.
