Exactly. As much as I've heard of people cracking rotors at track events, some replacing an entire set per event- I'll go with the slightly higher cost up front and have a much more robust system rather than worry about breaking something while trying to stop from 100mph+. Rear calipers will get painted the next time I flush the brakes. I would have powder coated them this time, but I was in a time crunch to get the brakes on. I don't really want to try and paint/coat them on the car.

I painted mine on my car. Just some creative masking I just purchased some Duplicolor caliper paint, caliper cleaner, and some fine grit (think 400) sandpaper. It was surprisingly easy. I used the caliper cleaner first to get the dirt and grease off, then sanded the caliper some, then used more caliper cleaner. Then I sprayed a coat, waited 10 minutes, and sprayed another coat. The paint applied really well. The hardest part of the job was getting the wheels on and off, especially without a floor jack (which I recently picked up however).

However, they also have a Satin black in the brush form (rather than spray) which might be slightly better.

Honestly, it'll probably be easier for me to remove the calipers all together, then mask and paint, then bleed the brakes again. I actually feel like that's less trouble than masking the parts on the car. Or I might see how much a new caliper pair costs...

I hear ya. I'm just saying it wasn't that hard at all to mask it other than throwing a towel around everything. New calipers are relatively inexpensive, probably around $180-200 for two new ones or $140-150 for remanufactured.

Hmm. I guess I'll just have to see how long it takes me to get tired of having non-matching calipers front and rear- then I'll do something about it. Probably the next time I wash the car- so like... 2013.

If you are going to paint them I recommend the g2 caliper paint from tire rack. It is a lot more durable, the duplicolor chips easily

Are you talking about the spray or the paint on? Because the spray doesn't look like it will chip at all.

I used the G2 paint-on caliper paint on my OEM calipers. I can vouch that they won't chip, even after numerous high temp track days.
