Stoptech Trophy vs. Alcon BBK

Here's a good article that goes into what StopTech does when designing a BBK:

Step #1, see what the stock brakes can do.

That was a great article and it was cool to see the testing that they do. I can also confirm the stoptech st40 kit is amazing on track, both with street tires and hoosiers. The pad and rotor life are significantly increased. I have had the same pads on all season (carbotech xp8) and they still have a lot of meat left on them, probably 4-5mm, and thats after 8 track days on hoosiers. I used to burn through a set of track pads after 3-4 track days on the oem brakes.

Trophy kit is more than the caliper difference.
Trophy STR Caliper is lighter than the Standard ST as they remove more material from the caliper than the regular ST40 Caliper. This is more noticeable with the calipers side by side. The STR caliper may be marginally stiffer as well
The Fixed bridge is slightly different. The port in the bridge is larger.
The caliper is anodized vs. painted since the painted calipers discolor when put through track use. However the Anodized is more susceptible to chemicals.
Beyond the caliper the rotors are different. The Trophy Rotors use different hardware on the hats that allow more float which helps with rotor life when you are heat cycling.
