Default Rear clunking with coilovers

I have noticed this clunking for a long time now. It comes from the rear, mostly the passenger side, but sometimes I will hear it from both sides. It's extremely inconsistent. I can hit some very big dips and not hear a thing. But, hitting some sharp little bumps that toss the car around will produce the clunking.

I'm just now starting to notice it more, possibly due to the cold? It's been in the 20s here, so I'm sure that takes away from the softer ride(cold tires, bushings, etc.).

I've searched this plenty of times, and have come to the conclusion that a lot of people have experienced this. Even some with BC BR-type coilovers. Seems to be people with the pillowball mounts. Everything under the car is snug. Everything was torqued to spec, with the suspension preloaded.

Any ideas?

Does this only happen when you go over bumps? It may be that you are hitting the bumpstops.

Yes, only over bumps. But, I've hit some serious dips, where the suspension gets full travel and it won't make the noise. So I've cancelled out the idea of anything bottoming out.

Don't think it would be the CVs, considering I don't get any vibrations upon acceleration.

pillow ball mounts will do this when they aren't loaded up. When you drive my car around in the paddocks at 5mph my rear spherical bushings rattle and clunk like a mofo. On the track where you're always loading the suspension they are silent.

Makes a lot of sense. I guess I'm just wondering why I'm starting to hear it more now. Possibly due to the freezing temps? I was thinking the cold has some effect on the bearings. I probably need to lube them up with some white lithium or silicone spray.

I have this same issue with my stock shock/swift spring. Just rear passenger...

I sprayed around the area, I thought it went away bit slowly got louder.
Retq them, didn't help much.
replaced tophat with other has low milies, its quite but still there.

Now I can live with it long as it doesn't get louder.

In the same boat. This happens more in the morning that anytime of the day. Its normal. I had this occur with Tein Flex's and JIC FLT-RS.

I was worried at first b/c my woman took the car and forgot to slow all the way down at a speed hump. Instead of .5 mph (haha) she went like....4mph? it was a small hump, but it still freaked me out to the point of checking them. All good haha. She scratched the bottom of the car real good...no worrys.
