Noisy brakes and uneven rotor wear
I just put a new set of centric rotors and ss lines on. Kept the same pads since i was going to bed in a set of xp10s next time at the track.
From the get go, the front brakes made a ton of noise. Both on and off the brakes. Not squeeky but grinding/abrasive noise. They work and stop fine, no vibration or pulsing. They were dead quiet before the rotor swap.
The rotors are also wearing unevenly. The outside edge is getting more contact and very rough but just on the outboard face. Inboard face of the rotor is smooth. Both sides are doing the same thing which is got me confused. Are they bad rotors?
I feel like this is such a noob question that I should be able to figure out myself! Ive had this 07 for just a few months but not new to wrenching on hondas. Any ideas?

I hate to say it but ive seen that same pattern when a buddy put his on backwards (steel side in). Can you get pics of how you have the pads installed please?

Are you using wheels with hub centering rings by chance? If so, and pads are correctly installed, ditch the rings and try again. Sometimes they get deformed just enough under heat to leave rotor slightly loose as wheel is not properly torqued all the way down due to ring deformity. Probably not it, but Just a guess as it happened to me once. Wheels are lug centric anyway

I succeeded installing the outside pad backwards on the driver side rear brake about a year ago. Same symptoms and "wear pattern".

I do like to drink beer when wrenching on the car, but not enough to put a brake pad in backwards! But i did check and they're in there fine. Pads had tons of material on them. What throws me off is that its on both sides. If it was just one i would blame myself for something.
I did put new to me wheels on too. 17 x 9 enkeis. I dont think they had hub rings stuck in them, but ill check.

Tcjenson is the winner. The front wheels had hub rings in them that i never noticed. So the wheel never snugged up to the rotor. The rotor was pretty loose even with the lugs tq'ed. So the wear came from the metal tab that holds the pads. Go figure. Everythings good to go!
Thanks again tc. Looking for hub rings would of been the last thing i would of checked!
