Noise under braking
Hi guys,
I'm hoping someone can help me here - before I take my car into Honda.
I have a 2009 AP1 Facelift (F20C) S2000, in the UK. The cars done 38,000 miles and has been perfect - up until recently, where i've developed the strangest noise ever. Rear pads and rotors are new OEM. Front pads have 65% meat left but rotors are a little lipped. Rear left wheel bearing was changed by Honda about 1000 miles ago. Brake switch under brake pedal was changed recently under warranty.
It will only happen under braking (medium to firm braking) and the noise gets worse when hotter. The pads and discs are OEM Honda. It's not an aftermarket pad type noise (I know that that sounds like)
The only way I can explain it is, a sort of squeek / rubber noise / spring type noise from the rear left or front left. At speed there is no noise, however as you get to down to about 25 mph and come to a stop you can hear it. It's a rotational noise (only on braking)... so at 20 mph its a quick (and loud) squeek squeek squeek - as you come to a stop, it slows down to the point to can stop mid squeeekkkk. I can also feel this under the brake pedal as i'm just about to stop and the noise is happening.
Sorry about the rubbish explanation, but i've never heard anything like this before. Help?
Regards,
Ricki.

Ok, it's definitely a rear left brake problem! Is this what a siezed calliper sounds like? Just tried rolling at 5mph and pulled the handbrake ever so slightly and the noise is there. Assuming I can put it down to the rear left as the e-brake locks the rears.
Rotors don't seem to be warped - and it doesnt seem like there is excess heat being generated on the left compared to the right.
Anyone have anything?

I'd take the pads off and make sure they're installed correctly and wearing evenly. If they aren't I'd regrease the pins and boots and try again.
Wheel bearing at only 38k? Why?

Could be the dust shield making light contact with the rotor. Push it back a bit and see if the sound goes away.
The butterfly spring that holds the pads tightly in their spots can also work loose and rub on the rotor.
