Default Need some expert opinions: pads/rotors

Maybe this is a "Brakes Thread Only" so forgive me, just not enough activity in there. Was planning on doing a little more research first but on the way home last night the brakes were howling at me. Little info about the car. Stock powertrain for now. Will go to BBK once I supercharge. My S is my only means of transportation (30mi a day) and the car sees the track at least once a month (more when the new track opens up around here).

Need a pad/rotor combo that has excellent streetability, but will last more than 5 track days. Dust/noise is not a concern, although, I guess it would get annoying if it were TOO bad. Bite is a high priority but track longevity is slightly higher on the list as I don't want to be constantly changing pads. Price is not an issue as long as they are good quality and fit my application. Would just get BBK but there are other mods I want to do first as car is completely stock at the moment.

Any suggestions???

OEM Rotors with Carbotech XP10/XP8 seem to work well with a lot of track guys. I currently use OEM Rotors on Hawk HP+ and I have Carbotechs on order. I wouldn't run them on the street. The squeak is quite annoying and embarrassing. I use OEM pads for street.

I'm looking to go a little better than OEM rotors. Any suggestiong? Again I don't mind spending a little as long as it is a quality product and is less likely to crack.

HP+ have a high c.f. and fantastic bite, even stone cold. Some dust and noise, but in my experience the noise gets knocked down to acceptable levels after a couple of hard track days.

For this level, there aren't any rotors that are going to be any "better" than OEM or Centric. I've done ~22 track days with the S over the past 4 years, and only bought two sets of front rotors and one set of rears.

Anybody use DBA rotors??? My plan is to have a full set for dd and track days and use stocks as backups.

If you want to spend more on slotted and/or drilled rotors, you may actually end up with reducing pad and rotor life, for no real performance benefit.

Having spares handy at the track is a good idea, but IMO you're better off with plain Centrics or OEMS.

Think that's exactly what I will do. Ordered AX6's all around. Where I live currently, changing pads/rotors before going to the track just isn't feasible so I went with one of the more aggressive street pads. I'll see how they hold up. Going SS lines as well while I'm at it. From my understanding, they are mostly the same. Is there any brand I should avoid? Same question for fluid as well.

As for the SS brake lines, I bought Stop Tech off ebay and they would not fit, the end of the line protruded so you could not screw on the compression fitting. Took me many hours and finally I looked a the end of the fitting and noticed it was different than stock.

In the pic, notice how the upper fitting in concave so it fits in the flared connector wheras the lower stoptech has the rounded end of the tube.

So whatever you get, make sure it has a concave flared end.

I bought Dixcel Slotted Rotors, Goodridge lines and I have the Carbotech AX6 pads. I love my brakes. So far I have about 55 laps and 8 autocross runs on them with no complaints. Even after 10+ lap stints with NT01s I had zero fade. My G2 brake caliper paint was a bad idea though. The calipers changed from silver to gold from the heat. The pads are a bit loud on the street, but I haven't been driving the car much other than at events.
