Default How to stop oversteer on a budget. Specs inside, need advice.

So I finally got to see how my 03 AP1 felt at the limit at a local autocross. The car handled really well, and did a faster raw time than the other 4 or 5 s2000s out there with various stages of mods/driver experience. I don't have the times to back it up because on that one lap I actually hit a cone that I'm unaware of where it was and that hurt my feelings lol. . But still, it at least ran with full suspension, rs3, aero cars with drivers who have a lot more track time than I do!

The problem I had isn't a huge one, but I was chasing the rear of the car trying to keep it in line. On one had I loved the turn in, but I feel like if I could have kept the rear in line I may have even had a shot of the overall fast time.

My set up is bone stock other than what I'm listing below.

245 square bfg rivals on 17x9 +48 wheels

Approx 36psi all around

espellir Spring Rate: 314lbs front / 392lbs rear

-2.6f -2.9 rear camber.

What would be the best, cheapest way to reduce over steer without compromising turn in? Thanks in advance.

Stiffer front sway bar. Saner/modadiction would be the best as a combo between price and performance.

in a pinch you could also unhook one of the rear endlinks and that will cause the car to push more but i never liked the way it felt disconnected.

On a budget? MY00-01 or CR front sway... and a MY04-09 or CR rear sway. Springs with front bias/stiffer rates, like CR or Spec-R. Theoretically, all the aforesaid will improve rear mechanical traction.

Run less front camber or lower rear tire pressure 1-2 psi.

Thanks guys I'll be on the lookout for the 00 01 front bar and ap2 rear bar as a cheap start.

Don't really want to get it realigned just yet, but for the tire pressure do you mean all tires, just front or just rears. Thanks

Your springs are softer in the front than the rear, which will induce oversteer. One option would be to sell those and replace them with something that has a stiffer rate in the front. Correcting this with sway bars is just patching the real root of the problem.

if you are serious about autocross, bite the bullet and buy a karcepts front bar. really no other substitute. Or switch those springs around like stated.
