Cutting Solid Haftshaft spacers?

Hey guys a friend of mine gave me a set of Halfshaft spacers Solid one piece ones. I see now almost all of them come cut in half to install easier. Has anyone cut the solid ones in half to install them instead of taking the whole shaft out? Im thinking it would be the same as buying a set that comes that way. Just wanted to see if anyone has done this.
