Default Cutting bump stops when lowering car?

So I will be adding lowering springs on my otherwise stock MY00. I am going with the very mild H&R sport springs. The goal is a small drop with the least affect on handling possible. One point that was made in another thread, is that lowering the suspension on the factory shocks will increase the chance of hitting the bump stop. And that this is a bad thing for lateral grip.

Would cutting the bump stops slightly be a solution to this problem?

I don't think you'll have an issue with a small drop. I'd leave them.

I have lowering springs on stock dampers and drive the piss out of it on the track only. I have never hit a bump stop even when getting on 2 wheels after hitting the curbing too hard.

you can't feel light bump stop engagement and they are in use almost constantly under hard cornering. please don't spread misinformation as fact.

Then I enhance my answer. I have driven track exclusively for years on a 1" drop with OEM dampers. If I am having any bump stop contact, it has not adversely effected the aggressive driving I ask of the car.

Thanks Mike

Have you been happy with just springs on the track? Do you think it was a benefit to the handling?

I will say this. I only did 1 track day with OEM springs, I originally changed them out because I liked the look. Since putting the springs on over 5 years ago I have become a track addict and have never had an issue with them. I am using TEIN S-Tech springs.
I can't objectively quantify the handling 'change', but can say that I enjoy both the look and performance of the car each time I drive it.

No need to cut the bump stop. I have installed springs with OEM shocks (3 different s2k's) and CR springs with Koni yellows on a S2k and never cut the bump stop.

I have elbach springs with OEM shocks on my 08 s2k. I track and autocross my car and I never came close to hitting the bump stop.
