Default changing the Perch on the Koni with GC

I installed a set of GC\Koni on my S. The problem is that my car is too low with not even a finger gap between the tire and the fender at the top setting on the GC. After a quick call to GC they told me that the setup was prepared using the low perch on the Koni shocks. They also told me that it's possible to change it to the upper perch on the Koni while the coilover are still on the car. They told me to raise the car a little bit, move the GC collar all the way down on the ajuster and then pull up the whle ajuster and the two perch will be expose allowing me to set the ring on the upper one. Sounds too easy, but have anyone done it before?

I used a bunch of zip ties with the shocks on the car to take tension off the lower perch and moved the snap ring on the lower perch. I know, not the safest thing to do, but I did it twice, once to lower once to raise, I'm at stock height now. These cars are low enough.
