Default Buddy Club Race Spec vs. Koni/Ground Control

Well I'm trying to decide which coilover setup to go with. First off I'm trying to stay around $1300 or below. I've found the Buddy Club race specs w/ top mount for $1300 shipped and I can get the Koni/Ground Control (440lbs all around) for around $1200 shipped. I've already considered the bilstein but I think the spring rates are too soft. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I really don't mind a stiff ride so that's not a big concern. This will be mainly street driven but I will autox and occasionally track my car. Which set up would be better?

Between the 2 I'd say Buddy Club b/c the damper has been made to work with the springs. Have you consider Megan Racing? They can be had under $1k and comparable to the Buddy Clubs.

Really? I didn't think the Megan would be on the same level. If so I have someone local that's selling a set for $800 new!

I wouldn't say that...stay clear of the cheaper stuff...

^My Megan Racing Tracks have not done me wrong in the 10k+ miles I've had them on. There are other members who love their setups as well. Cheap does not always mean bad.

When I was in the bimmer scene it was no question the quality of Koni. Personally I think that's the better of the routes. Also the Koni adj. shocks are prolly the easiest shocks to get customized later down the line if you need more out of them. I had Koni with eibach's on my last S2k and I liked the setup. I think I'll be going with the Koni/Ground control. I like that you can call Ground Control and talk to someone who can advise you on what spring rates would be best for your application.

when you push the car to the limits, you will find differences. just as their is differences between BC RSDs and coils like Zeals or something.

if you don't push the car to the limits, you're fine with something a step down. Megans aren't something i'd want to track or canyon run in regularly though.

does buddy club even make the RSDs for bmws? might not be the best comparison.

The roads I have around me are smooth... little to no pot holes. It seems like the two coilovers I'm considering aren't the ones most would go with.

So, what coilover set for $1500- would you go with?
