I think he only claim to run staggered brake pads .
Just the opposite , all the above replies are approving its OK to run XP10/XP8 on street unlike other posts i've read .

What about rotor wear , any acceleration?

They're Carbotechs.

I don't know how much they accelerate rotor wear, because the track guys usually break the rotors way before they need to be replaced from wearing out

So far a weekend/occasional track car, is that recommended or HP plus?
Occasional as in around 3 a year

Also which one has less brake dust?

i had HP+ on Miata.
they squeal a loooooooot, dust a lot and i always got them completely faded at the downhill.
they also by no means cheap.
IMO i would look for better options.
currently i'm considering EBC Yellowstuff.

don't forget to flush your brake fluid!!!

The carbotechs (XP8 and XP10) will dust a bit less and make less noise than the HP+ will. The HP+ will have a ton more cold bite and cost quite a bit less. If you're only tracking three times a year, you're better off swapping out between street pads and track pads. Only time I run track pads on the street is if I have a couple of events pretty close together. Otherwise the brake dust, noise, and reduced life of expensive track pads on the street greatly outweighs the minor inconvenience of swapping them out.

I have XP12/XP10's.. they are UNBEARABLE on the street.. Every time I stop, heads turn to see what the hell that sound was.. But they are awesome at the track.

The last option is to go with a big brake kit like the Stop Techs. Then you can run street pads and not have a single worry.

Unless I missed it, nobody talked about what fluid you are using.

The OEM pads can take a heck of a lot of heat before they'll fade. Many racers use the stock pads for track days and autocross without issues. If your local track is like an autocross course, I highly doubt your OEM pads will fade. Also, you didn't mention any smell, the OEM pads will usually put out a distinctive smell when they get real hot.

It's a good chance the "fading" you are experiencing is your brake fluid. If you are using the OEM fluid, do a brake fluid change to something such as ATE or Motul RBF 600, and see if that solves your problems before getting a compromise street/track pad.

I've been running HP+ all around for now while on street tires (RS3s). but will go to ht-10s front/HP+ rears once I go back to Rs. Why HP+? Because they double duty as my autox pads and they're perfect for that too.
