Default AP1 with CR suspenssion

Hi, I would like to know if installing a OEM 2008 CR susp. on my 2001 AP1 would make a difference like in driving feeling or performance. I don't want to drop my car. Also do you know if the CR has bigger sway bars.

The S2000 CR almost has identical suspension specs with the 2001 AP1. Same steering ratio, same diameter in sway bars (i think, pls correct me if i'm wrong) etc. So no, its not a good mod in my opinion.

CR front springs +57% stiffer than 03 AP1
CR rear springs +14% stiffer than 03 AP1

CR front dampers, stiffer in both compression and rebound
CR rear dampers, stiffer in rebound and low speed comp, but very similar in high speed comp. (sorry no figures on these)

CR front sway (roll) bar +36% increase in stiffness (w/ 19% less wall thickness and i believe it's hollow)
CR rear sway (roll) bar -10% DECREASE in roll stiffness (seems they want to tame the tail end of the car, makes sense and will give even more 'feel' to the front sway bar doing more)"

Copied and pasted from another discussion. I do believe that the 2003 and 2001 is exactly the same.

Nope, the 03 and the 01 i believe is not the same. Even the suspension arms are different (based on personal experience) The 03 already had subtle suspension revisions after feedbacks from owners. 99-2001 are the ones that are the same and had the most "hard core" settings.

I agree. Front sways are about the same. I don't know about the springs on the '01 AP1, though. Are they as stiff in front as on the CR?
I have a My '03 and swapping suspension to the CR really tamed the tendency to oversteer at autocross Also help I upgraded to 17" wheels and 225/255 star specs

perhaps the CR suspension leaned towards having the front in the specs as with the ap1 and rears with the ap2 so as to be the best of both worlds?

Read in another thread that the spring rates for MY '01 are 218F/291R. This is much different from the CR which has the much stiffer springs up front than in rear. I'm no suspension expert, but in reply to the OP I would say that a CR swap would be a good Mod if you want to lose the loose tail and get on the throttle quicker out of the corners

My 2 cents

Found this in the Official springs thread.

OEM Spring rates by year (front/rear)
MY00-01 = 218/291
MY02-03 = 240/230
MY04-07 = 256/207
MY08-UP = 274/225
MY08 CR = 375/264

yeah having a stiff front would definitely lose dive squats thus having better rear traction on exit.

very informative thread. how about the sizes of the sway bars does anyone know? I've read that the '01's had the thickest and went thinner and thinner as the years gone by, then the CR went thick again.

Those spring rates are incorrect; the correct ones are:
AP1 [00-01]: 218 (3.9 kg/mm) 291 (5.2 kg/mm) ( Published )
AP1 [02-03]: 249 (4.4 kg/mm) 306 (5.46 kg/mm) (From SCC, also note that the UK Press release stated firmer springs )
AP2 [04-07]: 266 (4.75 kg/mm) 275 (4.91 kg/mm) ( 7% stiffer Fr, 10% lower Rr, compared to prev)
AP2 [08 --]: 284 (5.07 kg/mm) 299 (5.33 kg/mm) ( 7% stiffer Fr, 9% Stiffer Rr, compared to prev)
CR [08 --]: 389 (7 kg/mm) 349 (6.25 kg/mm) ( 37% Stiffer Fr, 17% Stiffer Rr, compared to prev)
