Any try the ballade 330mm Front break rotors kit for stock calipers
#22
I recently purchased the front and rear kit for my car. I too have RPF1s, and was hoping this would be a good way to upgrade the brakes without having to replace the wheels.
first off, they don't clear 17x9 +45 RPF1s.
after installing the front and putting the wheel on, i found the caliper scrapes the inside of the rim. it's not much, but it's touching. I started to grind down the caliper to clear, but am worried about how much I'm going to have to remove to compensate for any flex in the brakes under hard use. The last thing I want is for the caliper to jam into the inside of the wheel while i'm at the track or a solo event.
I also test fitted my enkei PF01SS 17x9 +60(?),and they clear without issue.
Before I went any further I decide to install a rear kit to see if I would have the same issue.. the adapter brackets, don't fit. I flipped it every way i could figure, and there is no way to mount it without the caliper bracket rubbing on the rotor.
so yeah, great way to spend a thousand plus dollars.
I have yet to contact ballade sports about these issues.

fyi the giro discs are the oem size. So sure they may be lighter but you arent gaining anything in leverage for increased stopping power.

Judging by track work and cracking rotors, yes, it's heat capacity. Bigger rotors (more mass and air to surface contact area) can handle more heat. Personally I care more about that then brake torque because even with sticky tires ABS comes in easily to save the day which means stock brake torque can easily over power most tires anyway.
