Default Adjustable Ball Joints "Movotech" is SPC

I was looking at buying adjustable ball joints and many have recommended SPC. IN looking around the SPC's were about $93 ea ($186/pr). I went to Rock Auto and found the "Movotech" MS60523 Supreme brand which I had never heard of for $64 ea ($128/pr). I didn't figure there would be much difference between the two so I ordered the Movotech's. That's $52 savings over the SPC. Well they arrived to day and look what they are stamped-

Good find but I still prefer just the lower fixed position offset ball joints.

I figured Mevotech and Eibach and SPC all came from the exact same overseas manufacturer. But the fact that they left the forging marked "SPC" is funny to me.

BTW...this doesn't mean they're exactly the same as SPC. Just means the forging is from the same die. Internally, there could be differences. Not easy info to find out.

Anyway, I would suggest replacing the grease under the boot of those joints with something else. Take off the boot and you'll see what I mean.

Those might last maybe 5-10K miles with that shitty grease in there. At least...the SPC grease is absolute shit. Maybe Mevotech uses something else.

The older red-booted joints were much nicer. Guess they had to find a new overseas supplier for these new versions.

Dorman adjustable joints look to be of the previous design...and they're like $60/ea on rockauto. I'd be inclined to try those out.

Perhaps because adjustable upper balljoints are known to cause UCA failure on cars that are tracked.

I came across these Mevotech ball joints recently and wasn't sure if they were exactly the same so I bought a pair of SPC joints for the front and a pair of Mevotech joints for the rear. They are not exactly the same, with the Mevotech having a different color (more gold/brass) and a very rough texture compared to the SPC's which has a more silver-like color and smooth finish on all components. The Mevotechs have older casting numbers than the SPC (assuming 67201-114 is older than 67201-121). The joints and boots seem to be identical. I think they are both worth the price, Mevo ~$250 for all 4 corners while SPC are closer to $375, since the Mevotech may be an older design.

I would only recommend these joints if you are doing all 4 corners and looking to save a few $$. For just the front or rears I would get some adjustable arms instead. The extra few $$ for the better part is worth it since you don't need the ball joint press and you don't need to sacrifice your OEM arms.

Good find. In regards to the failures I have only seen them in the rear control arms myself. Has anyone seen front UCA failures with the SPC style installed?

What kind of tyres will you use, and will you visit bumpy race tracks?
