Underbody Condition
Good Evening All -
Looking to purchase my first S2000 and very excited!
Prices as expected are through the roof but the car is special. I found this car in Illinois, got all the deal finalized. They have sent over the following pictures and to my untrained eye, it looks in decent condition, albeit a bit dirty.
Does anyone see any signs of abuse or rust from being driven in salt/snow. Any abnormal corrosion or anything to be concerned about?
Thanks,
UN

To add some more clarification - it looks like the underbody has some grime and road dirt on it. A few fasteners seem to have corrosion but overall it does not look like it has very much rust. I did do a realtime facetime video with them as well with the car on the lift and could not see rust in the brake line location, engine bay looked very clean too. Looking for feedback from members who have more experience than myself!
Thanks.
Thanks.

it looks really good. nearly all the bolts look pristine.
I'd buy this car and replace the few corroded bolts because I'm pedantic.
Although my s2000 is strictly summer driven, I still fluid film the under body...because I'm pedantic.
good luck!

Freeport (January 2022):
Underhood photo is helpful for determining rust as well. Underbody looks fine for 22 years.
How are you going to get this home (where ever that might be)? Salt/brine stays on the roads for weeks after application making puddles dangerous.

Hi Chuck -
Thanks for the info. Yes I am arranging for shipping right now, probably getting enclosed transportation back to Cary NC!
Thanks for the status picture for Freemont! Looks cold.
Best,
Usman

Definitely snow on the ground there and probably salted roads so closed transport is a good idea this time of year. I paid $1/mile to have my S2000 transported in a closed car trailer four year ago when I moved. Hotshot trucker door to door. Only difficulty was getting out and back into the car to drive it off the trailer.
Hopefully that hooptie dealer sticker will come off cleanly.
Looks like this will be a nice example.

Looks brand new on the underside, man, that is a clean car. I have the same minor surface rust issue on all my cars that do not go through either rain on snow. I do touch up all of those bolt with a rust remover, primer and paint, just because I care
