soft top problem help/advice (?)
Hi guys, after two months of owning my 00 S2000, i still can't figure if something is wrong with my softtop, and what. Previous owner installed a softtop from a later model with the glass window. Just yesterday i replaced the OEM straps with the modifry ones.
I am trying to fit the OEM toneau cover, but in vain. It seems like my soft top will not lower enough to allow the cover to go on. And i notice another thing i am not sure is correct. There are 4 metal hooks behind the hoops. The toneau cover is using the two outer hooks to mount. What are the other two inner ones usefull for? My soft top seems to rest on those two inners hooks when i lower it. Photos :

Question is, how the hell am i going to use the two inner ones. My toneau only has snap ons for the outers, but this isn't a big problem. When the soft top is down, it blocks the two inner pins, looks like it's resting on there. Is this how it's supposed to sit when it's down?

With certain aftermarket tops, the glass is actually larger than OEM and in turn does not sit properly into the package tray.
When the top is going down see if you can push the glass back towards the trunk a tiny bit and slowly lower it the rest of the way down. Do NOT force it or apply pressure downward on the top when it is down!
You could cut two small notches in the back plastic where the corners of the glass are hitting to allow it to go all the way down. (Cutting along the trunk side plastics)

Thank you very much for the advice, i am thinking i will actually remove the two inner pins as they are not going to be used anyway, so they are not needed. See if this is going to help, and if not, i will either trim the plastics like you suggest, or look for a replacement (OEM) soft top, if this isn't one.

Perhaps that's why my 2 inner ones have been removed on my 04 oem soft top with glass rear screen
could maybe put removable poppets on and remove them when using toneau cover..
Do you think its the mechanism dry and stopping it,as mine was when first got my car but now goes down fine now using it lots.
toneau cover has 4 or 5 fixing i think does not look safe with the 2 only..

I have also replaced my soft top with the glass one from a 2006 car (mine is 1999 model), and I have the same issue. Ended up removing the pins not to damage the new soft top.

Looking on how to remove mine now, trying to work my way to the nuts behind the hooks, did you take out pretty much all the plastics to get there or you found an easier way? My toneau has only two fixings anyway, the two outers, the two inners are useless
