I'm guessing that the s2000 is cheaper to paint in shops because they don't have to spray the top.

correct me if im wrong.

Actually it might be a tad bit more expensive to paint. The rear trim that is on the car around the soft top cannot be removed unless you completely take the soft top out, and that takes hours worth of labor. Maybe if you take the full soft top out yourself, then yes it might be a few hundred less than a normal car, but not much.

Depends.... if you are doing inside out, then wont make a difference. but if you are just doing the exterior then yeah you have grounds to negotiate with the paint shop guys.

As suzuka said that the soft top removal takes a while, and specially the installation back again.

Are you planing to change the color completely or just the shade in the same color?

Yep, also just as a reference, I got my hardtop fully painted for $350, so that just goes to show you how much may be taken off the price if you already have the soft top out and everything.

It also depends what color you are changing to, some colors if they are darker in color and your new paint is lighter, then they need to prepare the base different, that is if you are only oversparying, which is cheaper.

You have couple of options:

- Remove the paint and then do the new paint, best way, but costs more. recomended to go for inside out then!
- Overspray but depends what color you are going for.

And if your car body has some dings and dents then they need to repair that as well.

and am sure you are aware of the problem with S2000 front and rear bumper, there is always a difference in paint shade (here it is, we have lot of SUN!!!)
