Default Sebring Silver need blending?

Some idiot hit my parked car last weekend and scratched up my rear bumper I've taken it to two body/paint shops and one says mettalic silver is a hard color to match so they would have to blend the color up to the rear quarter-panels. $$$$

Another shop says they can get it done right by just painting the bumper and no blending. Less $$

Any advice or comments would be appreciated. Does blending the paint really make a difference Thanks

My rear bumper was re-painted by the previous owner and it's a very obvious mismatch of color from certain angles.

there is no paint company that will gurantee a panel match. Everythingshould be blended. Bumpers also pose a different challenge being that they are plastic and the quarter panels are metal. You can paint these two different substrates with the same paint and when they dry they will be different colors.

As long as the damage isn't too close to the quarter panels the paint could be blended with in the bumper. Also look at your car now, and take a good look, I'm willing to bet the color is off. I have a silver s, and none of the plastics match the body color 100 percent, like Djbeatz said the substrates will change the color even sprayed at the same time out of the same can of paint. Sounds to me like you went to greedy shops.

Thanks for the input, gentleman. Looks like my insurance company will pay the bill, and with my $100 deductible I'm gonna have my Sebring blended/repainted. The shop I'm going to is higher-priced, but the guy seemed to know what he was talking about and pretty much quoted djbeatz when he said that matching plastic bumpers to metal panels is tough to do but they can get pretty darn close. No one can guarantee a panel match, but they have been in business here since 1958 and I'm gonna trust them.

Only bad thing is I'll be driving a loaner for a few days probably an hyundai
