Questions about AP2 front bumper grill
Hi. I am trying to help my brother fix his front grill on his car. It looks like the left and right side will just pop off easily. I can see a hole on each side of the bumper where the side of the grill slides in.
Does the grill have stubs or something that go through these holes or is it something on the bumper that might be broken?
I know grills are fairly inexpensive ($35-$40 from what I have seen) and was wondering if I could just buy a new grill and replace the old one with no other issues.
One other thing I noticed is that there are tiny stubs on the bumper that insert through holes of the grill and fasten down with thoses metal pieces with spikes in the middle. One of two of these stubs seemed to have broken off. Will that affect the grill as far as being able to stay in place firmly?
I hope my questions are clear. Thanks guys.

If I remember correctly, On each side of the bumper opening there is a hole for the stub on the grill pto sort of snap into. Those two are not very strong, especially after it starts wearing off after the grill comes loose and is reinstalled over and over.
The tabs at the top of the bumper opening unfortunately break and cannot easily be replaced. Those are what keep the grill in, but are obviously very fragile.
By replacing the grill, you don't replace those areas that wear or break. Sorry.
I would try usin double sided tape or an emblem specific adhesive on the bottom of the grill where it sits on top of the bumper. That's gonna be your best bet.

Thanks for the reply. As far as I know only one of those stubs are broken on the bumper and some "speed nuts" are missing. The stub on the grill doesn't seem to be staying in the hole and just slips out. I just ordered a new grill and replacement speed nuts. Hopefully the grill wil be snug again. Man...the things I do for a brother.

a few of my tabs were broken so i pushed my grill until all of the tabs broke, then i plasti dipped the grill, then put it back in with double sided tape. its held up fine and looks good.
