Every time I see rims that were done by some one with Aerosol cans they tend to be flatter looking and have noticeable orange peel. My question is....

Is it possible to use spray paint and still have shop like finish? I watched the following video and will shoot for similar color look. http://www.autohow.tv/node/26


However before I start... I would like to make sure I take all precautions and that I paint everything properly. Let's discuss.

my main tip is its a lot better to underspray than to overspray. the main problems with overspray are dripping, and uneven paint. with underspraying, you just spray more. with overspray you gotta sand or clay to get it back even. that said, i am not the paint expert here!!

1st off, you need to clean the wheels completely before anything else.

Also, if there is any clear on the wheels, that will need to be stripped off, or the paint wont adhere well.

I would say scuff up the surface so the paint has something to grab onto.

Several thin coats is better than a couple thick coats. Plus with thin coats, you can sand any runs or drips easier, and smooth out the paint between coats.

Also, check with other members that have DIY'ed there own wheels and see how they did it.
