Matching Factory Sebring Silver paint
I have been trying to paint match my hardtop to Sebring Silver and the body shop is having a really tough time doing this. I'm wondering if anyone has an OEM painted Sebring Silver hardtop that matches to satisfaction or if this is just impossible to do because of the base materials being different. The body shop has also offered to paint it Berlina Black but I would rather not go that way.

I had one shop that painted my oem top 3 times as they had a hard time matching the colour. This same shop panted my front fender and rear bumper and they were just perfect. As Afzan stated quite often it is the way the metal flake comes to rest on the part, or the size/quantity of the flake. Colour wise it looked good, but the flake as off quite a bit.
I had a different shop paint my current Mugen hardtop and it came out perfect the first time out. They did a fantastic job with it, as good as factory IMO.
Many paint codes are going to have a few variations of the same paint colour. I would get a shop to test spray a few variations onto scrap metal or wood and pick out the one that matches best if they can't scan the colour exactly. I'm having the my hood painted this month and I'm taking in my fuel filler cover to the shop with the hood, so they can match the hood colour to the fuel filler cover with the proper variation.

I had the same thing when I previously had an OEM HT painted to match. I left the shop the gas door for reference. The shade of silver was absolutely perfect but when you got up really close you could see a slight difference in the flake. Never really bothered me bc the shade was correct and therefore it looked like a perfect match.

The most recent part I had painted to match my silver WRX was not difficult for the body shop to match, but I was told by the shop owner that silver is more difficult to match than white, considering the amount of colors that are mixed in to create the final shade of silver.
There is also the fading that the shop has to account for- with an '04-'05 car that has been in the sun, the shade could be different from the original paint that the computer is programmed to formulate.
I do think BB would look good on Sebring though! I'd like to get a BB hardtop for my SSM. Best of luck and let us know about the results!
