Default Colouring Suzuka Blue Soft top

I have a Suzuka Blue with a blue soft top. id like to dye top to a black colour. has anyone done this before?
what type of paint do you use?

does it require me to take the soft top off or could i do it with the top on?
i do understand it would be harder as i will need to paint the underside, but just wondering can it be done?

is there a DIY for this?
suggestions?
Thanks

I'd just buy another top. Or trade it, I think berlina w/ that blue top would be sexy as hell.

Sounds like a PITA man. Even if you found a good dye you would have to find some that will hold up to the weather, harsh UV rays, easily flexable so you can put the top down, ect.. I know you can probably do it and might last a while, but in the long run it will probably look like crap. The inside would take a lot of time since the whole frame of the top is in the way, but I suppose it's possible. I would just leave it as is until you can get a nice new black soft top. You can get nice aftermarket tops for our cars even with the glass back window for around a grand.

I'll second acus2k's interest! A blue soft top on my GPW would probably look excellent!
