Clear coat/paint chipping
Hey everyone,
A little history: In 2005, my MY2002 S2000 was hit because someone backed into it in their driveway. It was a low speed fender bender.
I took it to a reputable body shop and they painted the front bumper and replaced my damaged headlight. The first time I got it back from the body shop...I noticed that the paint job had a different reflective property to it compared to the rest of the body. The details of reflected objects were kind of murky in it and it didn't match. I had them redo it and the got it right the second time.
Fast forward to 2013, almost 8 years later....I'm finding the front bumper had chipped clear coat and paint. I haven't driven the car that much and store it in a garage so it's not damage from another vehicle. I'm wondering if it's a defect in the paint job? Would this be covered under their "lifetime" warranty?
I'll post some pics for you to see. I always hand wash the car with the latest techniques I read on here. I pretty much baby it so I wonder wth happened?
Any thoughts?
You can see the car is pretty clean and well taken care of

Since the car wasn't hit and the paint chipped by itself, that paint job is substandard. Knowing that, why would you want to go back there? It'll be in the same condition few years down the road.
Depending on what their warranty covers, you may want to have a different shop do the work and the old one to cover the cost.

Finally, be polite and non-confrontational at all times.
