Default 303 Fabric Guard

Just wanted to know if anyone else had an issue when using 303 Fabric Guard to protect their soft top. I've used plenty of 303 products in the past with great results but to say I am disappointed with this stuff would be an understatement. My top was installed new last spring and was beautiful before I applied this stuff. Anything I've tried to remove it hasn't worked.

I only use 303 on my OEM top with incredible results x years and years. Use it on a perfectly dry top, mist, then give it a light wipe down.

Is that oem type material? If so you don’t want to use the fabric guard on it, you use the original 303, not the fabric guard.

No, this is a new Robbins cloth top not the original vinyl one.

Yikes!

Hoping you find a cure. This what you used?.

I admit to have rarely hand washed my S2000 and use the "no touch" automatic car wash in the neighborhood seemingly without negative results.

Yes, that's the stuff. I'm at a total loss here? It's not my first rodeo detailing as earlier this spring I ceramic coated our 3 Honda's and our Silverado with fantastic results! Basically a fanatic about pristine vehicles.

I've queried the professional who detailed my car -- including the Robbins fabric roof -- to see if he has any suggestions.

Here's the response from my detailer cut and pasted from his email response to my question. I forwarded a link to this thread and photos.:
I believe I used IGL Fabric on your convertible.

I’ve never encountered the issue the forum member described. I’ve also used 303 Fabric Guard on many vehicles with no issues.

It looks to me the spray was too concentrated and wasn’t spread evenly throughout the fabric before drying. After I apply a fabric spray, I wear nitrile gloves and run my hands over the entire canvas to help work the product in and avoid too much concentration within an area.

I don’t know if they have already attempted to remove the spotting but my first thought on how I would remove the fabric sealant would be to gently break it down via alkaline leaning solution. 3D APC diluted 10:1 or 303 Fabric cleaner should suffice, and I would probably team it up with a steamer as well to help neutralize the cleaner and break down the sealant. I would spray a medium to soft brush and work it in a small area, wrap a towel around the steam head (should be a wide head not a concentrated stream) and gently work the steam over the area and blot dry then assess.

Of course they need to test spot too.

Let me know if they have any questions, they’re welcome to contact me directly if they wish.
Hope you get this restored.

Thanks for inquiring about this to your detailer Chuck. It's much appreciated! I received a nice letter from 303 today and they claim Dawn Powerwash will work. I'm going to try that tomorrow. If I don't have any luck with that I will pursue the recommendations from your detailer.
Thanks again!

Just wanted to give an update that the Dawn Powerwash worked GREAT to get rid of the stains.
Very happy here!
