License plate required on front of a CO car?

Well, I didn't have one and when I returned to my car at the airport, had a $65.00 ticket for no front license plate. Don't know if they would pull you over, but it's $65.00 if they do. So now I proudly display mine.

Has anyone ever seen or read the actual statute on this? $65 is a little steep but I guess I would put mine back on the first time I have to pay it.
