Barring the onset of armegeddon, in less than 48 hours I should be increasing the Colorado population of S2Ks by one. The best part is I'm picking her up in Salt Lake City, Utah and want our first date to go perfectly. Her name is Elle, btw, derived from l33t-speak for her VIN of 3113. Black/black '02.
I'm not terribly familiar outside the confines of Denver area and was hoping for some suggestions from the *experienced* on some alternative routes while taking the long way home that will be both beautiful and will bring out her passionate side.
I'll be taking a compass, a knife and a 4-pack of Guinness. Have I thought of everything?

Bring SUNSCREEN!!! I brought mine back from Virginia and got fried driving across Kansas with the top down.
As far as directions, maybe come in through the northwestern part of colorado towards steamboat? Wyoming is no good, and 70 is pretty boring. Also be sure to check where there are any fires before hand. Congratulations

From SLC you can hook up with 40, end up near Granby, and hook through Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park, then down 36 to Boulder - that last part of the trip - from Grand Lake to Boulder, being the most fun. Be forewarned - they are chip sealing highway 34 from Granby to Grand Lake - so go slow and don't tailgate!
Congrats on the new purchase! Sunscreen is Very important! And you will need some great CDs, as the reception is weak!

Thx, guys. This is gonna be a blast. Looking forward to meeting the other regional owners at the next big shindig. I see a silver one around here alot (actually two, hence my happiness now at not going with my first color choice). I'll have to track him/her down next time I'm over at 5280 Roadhouse, since that's where I aways see the one. Good call on the sunscreen, I would have forgotten that. I'm adding a nikon to the list so hopefully I can post some nice shots to the gallery of my little adventure.
