Einszett Passes the Test-Product Review
Yesterday I did some wax/polish testing on my wife's dark red 2000 Mitsubishi Diamante. The product I used is something fairly new to the US market called Einszett. They are a German-based company that has been in business since 1938. The products are a synthetic polymer based on an organic composition. Basically they are designed to emulate the gloss and depth of a carnuba while providing the wear of an acrylic synthetic.
The Polish
Since the wife's car doesn't get the love that mine does, her paint was in pretty sad shape. After getting it washed and dried, I began the process with a product called "Lack Politur." It is a polish with a moderate abrasive. It is designed for a paint finish that may be lightly oxidized with swirls and spider webbing. I applied the polish onto the paint with a Porter-Cable 7336. The process was effortless and moved quickly. There was a bit of white dust as I removed the polish, but it seemed to gather in the MF towel I was using to remove it, rather than in the edges of the car. One observation I did make was that this stuff cured very quickly. I would finish a panel and could immediately start to remove the polish. As the polish came off, that paint looked very crisp and clean. The spider webbing and swirl marks were entirely gone. The paint had good gloss, but it did not impress me with the "wet look." The entire car took me about 45 minutes. The clean up consisted of rinsing my applicator pad with liquid Laundry detergent.
Product: Einszett Lack Politur=a moderate abrasive
Application method: Porter-Cable
Ease of application (1-10): 8
Cure time: 3-5 minutes
Ease of removal (1-10): 8-a little dust
Total elapsed time: 45 minutes
Ease of clean up (1-10): 9
Shine (1-10): 6
Desired results (1-10): 10-paint looks better than new
The Wax
The Einszett wax I used is a polymer synthetic called "Glanz Wax." It is different from the competition in that it is an organic-based polymer compound as opposed to an acrylic. When applied, Glanz Wax produces a protective coating over the paint while still allowing it to breath. An acrylic is a semi-permanent seal over the paint.
I applied the Glanz Wax to the same Mitsubishi I had just polished. It comes in a clear liquid form with the constancy of water. I drizzled the Glanz onto a foam applicator pad and applied it to the paint in a micro thin coat. Almost immediately after application it began to haze. Total cure time is about 30-60 seconds. No, really, seconds. A drawback to this is that you really want to work in sections, because the longer you leave it on, the more difficult it is to take off. With this brief cure time, a two person team could do a full sized sedan in about five minutes. Crazy fast. I used a plush weave MF towel to remove the wax. There was zero residue and no dusting. It wiped off with ease. It took a little over ten minutes to do the entire car. When completed, the car looked amazing. It had a deep, thick shine to it. The metallic in the paint glittered like the finish on a bass boat. I was way impress with the final result. Clean up was a breeze as all I did was rinse the applicator and throw the MF in the wash.
Product: Glanz Wax
Application method: Hand with foam applicator
Ease of application (1-10): 10
Cure time: 30-60 seconds
Ease of removal (1-10): 10 zero dust
Total elapsed time: 10-12 minutes
Ease of clean up (1-10): 10
Shine (1-10): 10
Desired results (1-10): 10
As you can see, I am pretty excited about this product. What I especially like about the Einszett line is that it is a total paint care package. There are four levels of organic polish and a synthetic wax to finish. You don't have to shop 3M for a polish and Klasse for a synthetic and P21S for a carnuba then hope for good results. Einszett has a full line that is proven to integrate well on a molecular level.
To be fair, yes, I do sell Einszett, but I also sell P21S, One Grand and Klasse. Are my impressions biased? They could be, but my margins are pretty close on all the wax products I sell, so that doesn't come into effect. With Einszett, the application was smooth. The results fantastic and the clean up easy. There was no mixing of solution, wasting product or cleaning with special chemicals. It was simply wax on, wax off and rinse.
Based on the results of my testing, Einszett will be the flagship product for Detailers Paradise. I hope you guys give it a try.

Nick, a question would be how well does it last. For those of us who LIKE to wax our cars (probably not as much as Jon, though) it's not as big of an issue.
I had a friend who swore up and down that Zaino was the same crap you can buy anywhere, just rebottled (he's in the chemical supply biz). So, I said, "Bring it on." We did half his hood in Zaino and another half with his stuff. 2 months later, the non-zaino side didn't bead at all. 6 mo later zaino is still going like a champ.
If it's as expensive as Zaino, it'd be nice to see how durable it is. If it's cheaper, lasts as long, and looks as good - well, I'd love a locally available alternative.
BTW: Has anyone compared the P21s durability to that of Zaino. I've heard favorable reports on 'just finished' appearance.

mgirard,
We are in the process of testing the longevity of Einszett. The Glanz Wax is a synthetic and the manufacturer claims 4-6 months of life on the car. I really have no reason to doubt this claim, as the product has a proven track record in Europe. The price is comparable to other waxes at about $14 for 500ml. What I really like is you get great results without having to print an order form, write and mail a check, wait, mix with ZFX, wait for it to cure, then clean up your mixing containers with alcohol and scrub your applicator with liquid Tide.
Einszett has a complete line of paintwork and metal care products. We have polish in five levels of abrasiveness and a synthetic wax to top it off. This means you don't have to shop two or three different product lines to treat your paint. All of the Einszett paint products are proven to work together on a molecular level.
As far as P21S goes, it is a great carnuba product that gives a deep shine. I used it on my S2K with pleasing results. The catch was that my car was covered at all times. In Colorado, our cars get hit with aggressive amounts of sun. This has a tendency to vaporize the carnuba off the car. I started using it on my GTI and within a week of sitting in a unshaded parking lot and baking in the sun, the wax was gone. I switched to a synthetic and life was again happy.
So, for a garage queen or weekend driver, a carnuba is a good wax choice. But, if you car sees any type of daily duty, you might be better off with a synthetic.
