I just finished changing my tranny/dif/oil fluid. As I expected from reading all the posts, the dif fluid look old and dirty. Engine oil looked like normal, no real signs of contamination or breakdown.
I've noticed my shifts at low rpm seem to be a little notchy, so I also changed my tranny fluid. To my surprise the fluid looked clean. Hmmm.. This tranny has blocker style syncros, so does this mean low rpm shifts are supposed to feel like this.
At one time my civic was grinding gears in 2nd and 3rd so I found a few(4)
used trannys, linned them up and found the best components in each to build one good one. Now my civic shift like new. I don't think this would be the case with the S2000.
So, I guess my real question is the s2000 supposed to have a slight notchy feeling when shfiting at low rpms? I do drive my car civilized sometimes.

I believe this to be the norm. Some people use the term "shift like butter" but this is a matter of individual definition. The "notchiness" seems to be related with the circumstances surrounding the shift - rpm, clutch/throttle/shifter coordination, how the revs match up at the time the gear engages, etc. Unless you get repeated grinds, it should not be a concern.
What kind of tranny and diff fluids did you use? Did I ever mention that Honda does not have the proper fluid that is supposed to go into the diff? What they sell you can damage the diff.

xviper, thanks for the concern, I think you posted it in another forum. I used a GL-5 synthetic 75-90 for the diff and Honda manual transmission fluid for the tranny.
I have some 75-140 Mopar Synthetic Hypoid oil. It costs like $25.00 a quart. Does anybody know in terms of protection. Is it better, worse, indifferent? I use it in my Ford.
