That's the entire reason for my proposal of this "private" competition. There are lots of S2000 owners that have made various mods that move them into SM2, and makes them completely uncomptetitive.

Instead of leaving the sport, why don't we modify it into a sport that works for all of us?

^i like that idea... a lot.

Because as it stands i rarely go to auto-x now because even though i enjoy it i am not competitive.

or...

you could all come to stratotech and we have an s2000 series?

I am heavily committed to autocross events this summer, so my attendance at Stratotech will be very limited. Doesn't mean I won't try to make it to an event (or two), but it's second on my priorities this summer. I'll leave it to you and others to kick butt at those events.

I have hopes for the S2K autocross competition because almost all of CSCC events are at Penhold and Red Deer, so the driving distance is about the same for Calgary or Edmonton S2K owners. I am also going to be the official scor keeper for CSCC events, so adding in a speparate set of calculations for our very own competition won't be too hard.

We just need to decide on a set of rules and get some awards. I have at least one prize that I will donate. I won a Kumho watch last year, but I never wear it. It's big and clunky, but it has the advantage of being fairly "unique" and at least somewhat racing related.

Dude, is that the highlight of your racing career or something ? You beat me once 3 or 4 years ago by less than a tenth of a second.

Maybe we should have a look at what S2000 "eating" cars beat you at the one event you attended last year .

Seriously though, your car won't be competitive whatsoever based on PAX, but most of the regular guys don't give 2 squirts about PAX. Besides, Murray has a pretty mod friendly competition thought up for his S2000 competition.

The entire idea came from a weekend in Packwood where there were three S2000's on street tires. We didn't care what the other cars were doing; the entire weekend was us trying to outdo each other. It was one of the highlights of the entire year.

I definitely want to to see you at the events in Red Deer and Penhold -- I want revenge for the last run at SSIS where you smoked me! (nice run BTW).

Edit: I forgot that you live on the island now. If you happen to be making a trip this way, be sure to come race.

yes it was hahahahha... but honestly i was much faster in my rsx than in my s2k. It was a far easier car to drive and setup in a much more balanced way.

yup, i got it handed to me by more than a few... i can thank a few things for that, primarily my yoko es100s.

EDIT: Forgot to ask, are some of the S2000's going to be on street tires? There are a couple of Winnipeg guys that might be more likely to go to Saskatoon if there were street tire competitors to play with. This year it's just Jeff and me in my car on R's in Winnipeg. Kertef may run R's too, but I'm not sure if he was thinking about travelling.
I decided to get a brand new set of RE01R's for this season that I will be running on my auto-x wheels this year. I have 2 trips to Florida I am taking this year so a set of R's and all that goes with them was out of budget this year, but who knows what next year holds

Yup, agreed. It took me most of the season to start to get the hang of the S2K in auto-x. I ran the car on the stock tires for most of the first season and found it very challenging. I ran on 710's for one event that year and found the car much easier to drive than on the stockers. I also found the RE01R's i had last year way easier to drive than the RE050's.

It's like you said before; the S2000 is easy to drive quickly but difficult to drive fast.

But i think if you did 4 or 5 events in a season you'd get pretty fast with the S2k. I'm guessing because you do alot of time attack type driving that you're a bit out of your element in auto-x now. Kinda the same as me when it comes to lapping or time attack out at Stratotech. I've autocrossed so much the last 3 or 4 years and not done any lapping events, so when i went out to Stratotech it felt pretty strange and after doing a couple of events i found out my driving line was kind of off which was really limiting my times.

Murray: unfortunately, it's unlikely i'll be at any events in Alberta this season. I was thinking of attending Saskatoon for nationals, but i doubt my finances would allow it as it would be my wife and i both competing. Plus if i was going to go all that way i would want to be driving a comptetitive car; which, running an almost stock car on streets in BSP my car would not be competitive whatsoever. Once there's a Street Touring class for the s2000 i will be interested in National type events.

If I get a ride with you, I will insist that both hands remain on the steering wheel at all times!
