yeah it does matter... some tracks/events wont allow you to participate if your helmet doesn't meet their snell rating (SA2000, M2000)
I remember race city in calgary required it to be snell rated... just cant remember what the actual rating was. (snell 90?)

Yeah, i would recommend one of the HJC helmets, they seem to be quite good for the price. They'll be Snell M2005 rated. I believe the current minimum for most clubs is Snell SA95 or M95. I believe Alberta Cycle carries them for good prices.

Get the SA05 or M05 - the SA95 or M95 is the Snell rating from 1995. You'd be lucky to even find a helmet with a rating that old nowadays anyway! Snell does their ratings every 5 years. It's probably a good idea anyway to ditch a helmet after 8 or so years of life regardless.
