Default Insurance issue

In saskatchewan you pay for your regular vehicle registration which is dictated by saskatchewan government insurance. If you wish you can purchase a separate package policy for your vehicle. I usually do this, and continue to do it for the honda and bmw. 6 years ago I bought the s2000, purchased the package policy which covers almost everything, with a $100 deductible. I also purchased at the time a 3 year total replacement package. At the time I asked whether I could store the vehicle for the 5-6 months, with out paying for the vechile registration. This was not an option. Either I buy a storage package or I just keep the car registered. I found out yesterday another insurance firm allows you to discontinue your plate/vehicle registration for 6 months. Thus a savings! For me the registration for one year works out to 87/mon. Anyway, I phoned up my insurance broker and told them this, and said I am canceling and moving on to another company.

They told me oh don't do that we allow the same thing. We changed this about 3 years ago. I am livid when I hear this. I talk to the agent, told him the whole story again, and he says oh I think it has been longer than 3 years, maybe 4. The discussion got heated and I said you guys cost me a minimum of $2000 over this time period, because no one told me of this change. No letter, no nothing. Plus the staff seem to know me since I buy lots of package policies and they seemed to know that I store the car for the winter. The agent said all he can do is offer an appology. So I said, ok, effective immediately I am cancelling all my insurance, 2 cars and house insurance. Eventually he said he would see if there was anything he can do on monday. I know this is a lost cause, but just gripes the hell out of me.

Anyway I am venting here, as this just peed me righth off!

Good work on cancelling the insurance for everything. This will teach them a lesson. If they really value service, you'll get a BETTER SERVICE RATE! A friend of mine came across something that was the insurance fault, when he said he was not going to offer them his business, they gave him a terrific rate for his car, house. Good luck with this!

The other good thing is my parents also have 2 cars and house policies... with the company. Co-operators.

but at the end of the day, I don't know what can be done. On the otherside, sure shit they will find their announcement of this policy change and say that I got informed and it was own lack of not taking advantage.
