Enzo Ferrari in Calgary

That was indeed Zahir (and friends). Ironically, I spoke with him on Wednesday while he was scooting along in the Enzo. He had trouble hearing me because the car was so loud. They will be back in town Monday. I can't wait to see (and hear) the Enzo.

Am I alone when I fail to see what the big deal is all about?
Realizing that the Enzo is a technological marvel, unrivalled for it's exclusivity, I'm obviously not as hyped about this whole thing as everyone else appears to be?
Comments? Suggestions?

If I see one, I see one. And if I do, I'd most likely go ........................ OK, nice! I wouldn't go out of my way or put special effort to see one. It's not like I'd be allowed to take it for a spin around the block.

Pretty dammed impressive car and not something you'd see in Calgary especially driving on the road. You also gotta be impressed with Zahir's willingness to actually enjoy his cars by actually driving them. I recently saw the video of a recent road trip to Vancouver. Zahir's friend were driving their exotics through weather many of us would not submit our S2K's.

I've seen a couple of Enzos at SEMA, as well as 4 or five Porsche Carrera GTs, and just about every other exotic car imaginable (other than classics like 250 GTOs)...Saleen S7, Mclaren F1, New Mclaren/Mercedes SLR, etc. My life certainly didn't change after seeing any of them
I share the view that expensive cars are really no big deal...there are $1million+ houses all over the city, and nobody pays any notice...why should a car be any different? When it comes down to the stuff that matters, our cars provide 75-85 percent of the performance, 95 percent of the enjoyment and 500 percent more reliability than a modern exotic car at a fraction of the cost.
What many people don't realize is how poorly some of the exotics are constructed. I had a friend with a Ferrari 355...one day as were were driving down 5th avenue S.W. (the car was less than a year old at the time) I noticed that his entire dashboard on the passenger side was moving a least a quarter of an inch when we hit large bumps, making the most gawd-awful squeak in the process. The daily driver I had before the S2000 could be classified as a semi-exotic, and it was hands-down the worst built new car I have owned in the past 20 years, with material and construction quality issues that the owner of a Honda Civic would find unacceptable.
Just because something is expensive, custom or "rare", doesn't mean it's necessarily better than a well-designed, well-engineered mass produced product.
OK...old fart rant over

Is it a big deal...I don't know. But I am going to make a best effort to go to Race City in June to see the exotics run around...and take my son who will get a hoot out of it. I saw a red 360 on the road today....I think that they look awesome. I don't have to drive it to appreciate it as a car...although I wouldn't mind!
