In Dec 2006, I just took my S2K in to the dealership for my 72,000 Km service and they told me my battery failed the test. I was a bit skeptical as my car has not had any problems starting but I wasn't going to take any chances with our winters. I agreed to purchase a new battery from them for $95.88. One month later, a series of coupons was sent to my house which included a 10% off coupon for a car battery at the dealership. So koala is pretty much right about the price of $90-100 Can.

Ok, thanks guys! the thing is I don't trust the local dealership My battery is going on 7 years old, and since I don't drive it on a daily basis by alarm seems to drain it. The last couple of years it has gotten worse.
This fall I took the battery out, put it on the trickle charge as it was stone dead. I thought the charger would have cut out, but after a day I came home and thought someone died it my garage. The battery case had busted open with a small spray of acid. I suspect maybe there was not much water in the battery and it boiled dry. Not sure, all I know is I need a new battery!!!

Get one from Canadian Tire, $109.
10 years warrantee I believe.
I just swipped xvipers old one , probably get a couple more years out of it. Mine went 110,000kms and 5 years later before it had cranking problems in -15C weather

I also bought a Canadian Tire battery (motomaster Eliminator). Hey, I haven't even charged it this winter and the car is sitting in the garage and battery is still okay not even dead. I'm pretty impressed. Going to pick up a trickle charge soon so it doesn't die.
