What's the concensus with bringing your own parts when having your car service/repair at a dealership? The only thing I've ever brought to a service is my own oil. How about oil filter?

There is this local shop called I&M imports that sell really decent quality aftermarket parts. Can't go wrong with the price. I've been replacing a crap load of stuff (dist cap, rotor, alternator, etc) on my civic with parts being bought from there and the stuff seems to be comparable to so-called Genuine Honda OEM parts.

I think our good man Gary may have to shed some light on this
