For some reason Comptech didn’t offer an After cooler on the early kits so AIT are through the roof, and some owners felt that running the factory fuel settings Comptech recommends without any afr verification from a wideband was also a good idea. Between running to hot an AIT or too lean, you get detonation and blown motors.

Make sure you run an after cooler or fmic and run a proper afr and you will run forever. Centrifugal blowers are easier to tune and easier on our motor. If you run more then 7psi then get an engine management system that you trust someone to tune right. The F20/22 has proven to be a strong motor to FI in OEM form if you tune it properly. 15-20psi is common these days if you know what your doing and there are several guys pushing 25+ on stock motors/head gaskets just to continue the trend of finding what the limits of these motors are. Its all in the tune as they say.

In my case I ran one successfully for about 2 years and then decided I was going to move to an engine management device I wasn’t familiar with and entrust someone else to tune it, one week later I lost compression in 2 cylinders from over fueling, scuffed my pistons/rings. After this ordeal I replaced the motor and went back to the original set up with the addition of meth injection, something I prefer to manage. Running strong as expected at 9psi.

SOS was out of OEM TB's and were offering $100 cash if you had one for them. Or if you wanted theirs $150 out the door if you have another one for core exchange. You might call Chris and see if they are still in need. They have made some further improvements over the last year or so with better sealing for boost and water/meth injection applications and opened up the face another 2mm.
