V8 SUPERCARS 1000
If your not watching Bathurst 1000 race on SPEED channel Live, you need too. They are on lap 38 of 161.
Darryl Waltrip went for a lap with one of the drivers and said that was the craziest thing he'd ever felt in a race car. Some of these guys are catching air on a couple of straight a ways.
The aerial shots from the heli sure make you feel like your flying over Nurburgring

ok Chris who won, I fell asleep with about 15 laps left to go It was my turn to work this weekend, which means a 3:50 a.m. wake-up call.
I think those V8 Supercars need to talk to Nascar about exploding fuelcells. They had a pretty big one lastnight and a huge one about 3-4 weeks ago (youtube it)

I watched part of it. Definetly good racing and those Aussies are definetly passionate about racing. I visited Perth, Australia about 10 years ago while in the military and went to a local racing event. The Holden vs. Ford rivalry is just as strong as Chevy vs. Ford in this country.

Why? GM is Holden over there, and they do just fine. What I am about to say is in no way an insult to Australians. There car world is in my eyes is still stuck in the 60's and early 70's, but with modern technology to make the cars that much better. Enthusiast cars that sell well over there are like the GTO, G8 GXP, Falcon. (What a 4-door Mustang would be like... Kind of.) From what my Ausie friends have told me it is all about big power with handling mixed in. I agree that the CTS-v is a great car, but I don't think at the price that is would translate into with their money that many people would buy it.
And to the OP, yes, V8 Supercars is one of my favorite series to watch. I view it kind of like NASCAR if they did only road courses, and was about 100 times cooler. If I could take part in any type of racing in the world it would be at or very near the top of my list.
