What does your co-worker wanting to trade you on a sunny day have anything to do with the car's performance? What makes the S2000 so much more the racer car than the M3?

suspension. The M3 is a cruiser like the S4. I am finally learning that suspension has more to do with going fast than horsepower. Above all, driver has more to do with anything once you get into the faster cars.

Josh,

the first post in this thread is the refernece on Northwest track info:

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...?threadid=53865

Just scroll down until you see the stuff on PIR.

The BMW club site is at:

http://www.bmwacaportland.com/

click on Events, then July 8, 2002.

If your coming all the way up to Portland, just stay on North I-5 for a Pacific Raceways event in Seattle either July 10 or 13.

If any of you need pads at the event, I usually carry a set of Panther + in the box. In stock we also have discs & stainless lines. Make sure to contact ahead of time.

Regards,

Yes, this event is for beginners and those with track experience.

http://www.iebmw.org/racing.htm

Beginners

If you've never been on a racetrack before we have a specific group just for you. You will be on track ONLY with other beginners. We match you to an instructor and teach you driving position; "the school line"; accelerating, braking, and steering on "the line"; overall car control; and traffic management. What you learn will make you a better driver on the street and prepare you for future driving schools
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Intermediate and Advanced

Instructors assess student's abilities and work on specific skills to enhance car control. We teach you to modify your line based on changing factors. We teach you how your vision controls where the car goes. We teach you how to "feel" what the car is doing, and to understand how your inputs and outside factors affect its behavior. You may be "signed off" by your instructor to continue your learning on your own, without an instructor in the car.
I do not believe that they will allow you to drive on track with a passenger, however. RT and JHill have done this event; perhaps they wil chime in with an answer to that one.
